I’m on the lookout for a round table for our dining room. I’m hoping to find one on Craigslist that is just right. This means it is 48″ in diameter or less, has a pedestal for support and can be painted. Here are some of my favorite painted dining tables.

Ideally, I’d like to faux-paint our table in tortoise-shell like the one above. I’d like to live in that room. Folding screen, a touch of chinoiserie, ruffled curtains, saturated color – it’s one of my favorite rooms. Miles Redd is one of my favorites. I would like to speak to him about how awesome I think he is.
Yes, you are. Now, let’s start this friendship with you giving me a round faux-tortoise dining table.
R.A. – Happy Post Thanksgiving!
Love the orange paint – it is right for that room. I have an old oak (54″ dia / size does matter! we’ve squeeezed in 8) with beech venire that I would love to paint. And then sometimes I LOVE the natural wood. Torn.
Now, tortoise-shell….the faux-er the better. Looking forward to your before and after! Cheers!
THAT Smiley face! It began as a simple () a mind of it’s own I guess.
What color are you thinking of painting it?
There is a lady with a booth in the same place as my mother that paints furniture. I’m checking with her to see about her ability to faux paint something tortoise shell. I agree with you. It’s a fine line.
I start with white (not icy) and sometimes think a bright yellow. (love yellow flowers in the kitchen) But, the vintage cage style chandelier could use some paint too. And then I want to detail the hanging candle part “color of the year 2011” Hibiscus. So. No paint on either. 🙂
Are you decorated for Christmas yet?
