Travel Thursday: Seattle

The Mister and I went to Seattle a little over a month ago. I went to see a client and The Mister hadn’t been before. We stayed in the Hampton Inn and Suites for two nights. It wasn’t close to Pike Place but it was very convenient to the Space Needle, EMP Museum and the monorail.

The first day, we went to Pie and Serious Pie. The next morning we got up early to eat breakfast at Toulouse Petite. We liked it a lot. Then, drove down to Pike Place Market.

I had some macaroons from Le Panier and had to leave to be with my client during the day. The Mister did his own adventures. He love EMP Museum and I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get to go. For dinner we ate at 5 Spot. The Mister liked the mashed potatoes and I liked my salad with salmon.

The next day, we went to Vancouver. We didn’t have much time to see and do but we went to Davie Village.  I loved their crosswalks. You better work it when crossing the street in Davie Village.

We spent most of our time at Granville Island, we ate at the market, and Stanley Park. We had dinner at Jules Mae in Seattle. It was so good. It is towards the airport, so you’d do best with a rental car. We rode the Central Link light rail back to the city to stay at our hotel for the night, The Artic. It was quite nice. Look at this bath.

Our last day we walked back down towards Pike Place Market and ate at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese (the macaroni!) and Pike Place Chowder.

We got back on the light rail, the Central Link stop is right by The Artic, and headed home. There are more photos of our trip here.

Number 28 can be marked off of the 30 before 30 as I took a cruise last month. The Mister had been on cruises in his past, but I had not. A friend of mine was going on a cruise with her husband and asked if we were interested in going. I had always heard that cruises were more fun if you went with others, so I decided it was time to get going. Here are some photos from it. The last photo may be the best.

Key West

Who doesn’t want a manatee mailbox?

We’re so funny.

I love key lime pie!

Grand Cayman

The water was so beautiful.

This is me trying to stay cool while we swam with the sting rays. At first, I was scared. Then, I wanted to take them home with me.

We went scuba diving after the sting rays. So, this is me without makeup and my hair has “skank wave.” You’re welcome.

Jamaica

This is us before the glide through the rain forest.

This is how high we were.

These are my feet dangling while I’m crying because the glide stopped abruptly. I lost my mess. I immediately started in on “I wanna go home…” this was followed with out loud prayer.

We made it, but we had to go back.

I behaved better this time.

On the boat and around

My hat was awesome.

We had a balcony room which we enjoyed having. Both the photos above were taken on our balcony.

This is Alan and I starting the conga line. Why? Because that’s who I am. I get the party started. I was always chosen to dance in front of the dining room. Seriously, every night they walked over and grabbed me. There are loads of people who have my photo due to this.  I’m not super stoked about that, but I’m glad they enjoyed it. It was really awkward when strangers came close to me and took my photo, especially with the flash. Some would stand at a distance, wave at me to get my attention and then take my photo. At least one person took their photo with me. It got a little weird.

Friday, I will share our prep suggestions. Additionally, there will be a post regarding the decor. The Mister still talks about it.

I’m a lover of magazines, but I play on the side and read books. Here are some books I’ve read recently:

I started to read In Defense of Food, but didn’t finish it. However, I can’t take that on vacation. I don’t need to read about good food choices in between eating like it’s going out of style. So, what have you been reading? What do you suggest?

Don’t forget to read yesterday’s love story (https://thelovelylifestyle.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/a-love-story-tonya-and-andrew/).
