Dog Days

dog days cocktail napkins the lovely lifestyle

Anthropologie’s Dog Days Cocktail Napkins are real cute. They come in the four patterns you see above. Each napkin is a 12 inch square and $8.00 each.

I made four napkins from some vintage fabric last year and I need to work on my technique. We use white napkins for everyday use but I like having patterned napkins for events and dinners. I always look through the linen tables at estate sales for sets. Of course, I’m partial to the pug napkin above.

Target is on the ball, y’all. They recently introduced a brass and wood bar cart to their Threshold line for $159.00.

I don’t have a need for it as our bar is on our CB2 acrylic console. However, I do like a bar cart. They’ve been popular for years but they’re still going strong. This brass and wood, modern style is classy. Let’s look at what you could do with it.

This brassy bar cart is hanging out with some malachite printed drapes. Yes, please.

Because, sometimes,  I need to drink while I work.

You wouldn’t have to get up to get a drink if you used it as a side table.

Or you could just enjoy a lazy, hazy weekend in bed.

I feel like I need to find a place for it. Where oh where?

You got two posts on Wednesday as I cheated you last week. Now, I have another treat for you. An update of our own house! I’m so behind on showing you around.

Here are some quick photos of the two main tables in our living room – the one between our two wing back chairs and the coffee table.

You can find a wider shot here and here of where this table is.

Truman bobble head – I have no idea, but I believe I deserve bonus points from The Mister for allowing it such a prominent place.
Candle – Target (read about them here)
Cabinet – Horchow
Haeger green vase used as a pencil holder – Goodwill in Illinois (I bought it a little over a year ago.)
Vase that irises are in – Music City Thrift

The irises are from our yard. The small Staffordshire dogs are salt and pepper shakers I found at the flea market. I think they were $5.00. They’re not a “true set” but they’ll do for now. I used up the whole candle, so I’m down one.  The little plates are vintage ashtrays that I found maybe seven years ago at an antique mall and love them.

The ginger jar was an AMAZEBALLS Goodwill find. It was…wait for it…$5.00. Booyah people of the Internets. That’s my Nest candle in the middle. The blanket is on the couch for this reason.

I recently dropped by a World Market while on the road, as the one in Nashville isn’t near our parts. While there I found some cute plates that are currently on sale.

The first two examples, the elephant and monkey, are my favorite and look particularly cute with their matching dinner plates. However, I’d alternate the patterns.

These are also available with matching dinner plates.

Ceramic Pairs

I lost the auction for the Staffordshire dogs from here. I’m really bummed about it because I liked that set and they were really reasonable. I was in an area of the country with little cell service so I had  no way of making bids when it came close to the end of the auction. I’m going to stay on the look out for another pair as I agree with y’all on the This and That. However, it was close between them and the flamingos. Therefore, I’m sharing other cermaic pairs I found while shopping/browsing the internets.

I was inspired to look for ceramic set after the tangerine topiary from here. Do you have any favorites above? Let me know if you find a set of Staffordshire dogs while you’re out and about, please.

I found this image on Pinterest via Typhanie Peterson of Shoebox Decor.

Of course, I like the pink and navy. I like the chevron napkins. But what really caught my attention was the gold flatware. I have some gold tasting spoons I purchased at Target a few years ago and considered purchasing gold flatware. However, I struggled to find some that I liked at the time. So, I reinitated the hunt and here is what I found.

Oneida Flatware from Macys

It appears that Target no longer carries the flatware set they had. However, it was similar to the Oneida set from Macys, which is my personal favorite. Now, for a message from our sponsor Goldmember.

Kate Spade Illustrated

I lurve Kate Spade’s illustrated china. The Tidbit plates are my favorites. However, I have quite a bit of tableware and don’t need anymore.

But, I want more.
