A friend of mine is expecting her first child, a boy, next month. Her shower was a few weeks ago and I decided to wrap her present. First, it was in too large of a box to fit inside a bag. Second, I’m getting over bags. My father has always hated them and I’m starting to lean towards his side of the bag v. wrap argument. Yes, bags are convenient. However, they are rarely charming. Here was my wrapped present.
I decided to wrap the present with a roll of wallpaper. A few months ago, The Mister and I went to The Habitat for Humanity store to browse and they have mulitiple rolls of wallpaper for $1.00 each. I immediately liked the blue striped roll of York wallpaper towards the back and purchased it. I liked the weight of it and thought it could make great wrapping paper.
It was the perfect width for my present’s box. So, I wrapped it. However, due to it’s weight, I had to crease the paper around the edges of the box.
Then, I used some green zebra ribbon from Michaels to dress it up. However, because the ribbon was not wired I couldn’t make a bow out of it. So, I decided to simply tape the ribbon around the present as strips.
Then, I attached a vintage baby card I had been holding onto. I was pretty psyched about the colors coordinating with the ribbon and paper. I didn’t think ahead to check on that. I got lucky.
Wallpaper makes for good wrapping paper. It’s brightly colored, high quality and had a great weight. Try it.
